A key such as physical J and the letter J used for “Jump” in a community move list are different things. Fighter guides on this site use full action names to avoid that collision.

Find and verify your assigned actions

Use the game’s Settings/control menu to inspect Steam bindings. In the browser prototype, enter the game and press Escape for the pause/remapping menu. Assign movement and the action buttons for the player you are configuring, then return to a local match.

Test movement, Attack, Special, Unique and Super one at a time. If a key produces a different action, correct the assignment before following a moveset. If keys work individually but fail when held together, see two players on one keyboard for simultaneous-input limitations.

Translate move notation into your own bindings

On a narrow screen, scroll sideways to see every column.

Action notation used by the guides
NotationMeaning
Attack / AYour assigned basic attack action
Special / SYour assigned special action
Unique / UYour assigned unique action; fighter-dependent
SuperYour selected super, subject to its resource/state rules
Forward / →Toward the opponent, relative to your facing
Up / ↑; Down / ↓Hold the direction with the named action
Any directionAim in one of the supported directions; not a new button
Air / groundedThe same input can produce different actions depending on your state

Read the move-notation guide for simultaneous inputs and movement states. Controller buttons should be translated by their assigned action, rather than guessed from an Xbox or PlayStation letter.
