Prepare both players’ games
Steam lists online PvP, and the developer’s March announcement introduced public and private matches. Both players need an installed, working Steam game and their own usable inputs. Update both installations before trying to connect; a reported version mismatch is not the same as a controller problem.
The browser prototype’s local input groups do not establish native Steam-lobby support. If only one player will run the game, use Remote Play Together instead.
Public lobbies and private room codes
- Open the game’s native online/multiplayer mode.
- For a public match, use the public lobby list and select an available room.
- For a private match, one player creates a private room and shares its displayed room code with the other player.
- The other player joins through the private-room route with that code. Follow the game’s fighter/super selection prompts.
The useful completion check is that both players reach the same match with the intended fighters and can control them. This page does not invent a precise button caption where the reviewed material only identifies the public/private flow.
Diagnose the route before changing settings
A room-code join problem belongs to native online. A missing Steam invitation or guest-input problem belongs to Remote Play. Check that both players selected the same route and game version first.
The developer described rollback as work in progress in the June announcement, so the feature should not be read as a zero-lag guarantee. Player reports describe freezes and high-ping matches, but do not establish one universal fix or a guaranteed ping cutoff. Recreate the private room and check the new code if the session is stuck; if the failure repeats, report the versions, platforms and exact join stage to the developer’s Steam discussions.
